Ali Baba 40 Dongalu Story
The film begins in Baghdad, where 40 thieves create mayhem and camouflage their treasure in a cave called Sesame. Once, their Sardar assigns his acolyte Chotu and daughter Marijana to survey the town’s wealth. Alibaba, a gallant man acquainted with Marijana, falls in love with her. Alibaba and his mother, Chand Bibi, live with his stingy brother Kasim Khan and Kasim’s shrewish wife, Sultana. After a while, Kasim separates Alibaba and keeps him occupied with two donkeys. To raise funds, Alibaba collects wood from the forest, where he spots Chotu chanting at the cave, which opens. Alibaba returns home, repeats the chant, and closes the cave. Silently entering, he is dazzled by the treasure and begins taking some for himself. Alibaba becomes wealthy, which arouses Kasim’s envy. Kasim discovers the secret and enters the cave, but he fails to replicate the chant and is caught by the burglars, who take him to their fort and torture him. Alibaba hurries to rescue him, captures the thieves, and Marijana helps in their release.
Learning this, Chotu attempts to kill Marijana after the Sardar dies. To protect Kasim from dacoits, Alibaba secretly treats him by blindfolding the doctor and keeping Kasim in the dark. Meanwhile, Chotu continues plotting and contacts a doctor who traces Alibaba’s residence by a mark. Marijana cleverly replicates the mark on every house, foiling Chotu’s plan. Chotu then disguises himself as an oil merchant with 39 barrels hiding his accomplices. Alibaba welcomes him, but the missing oil in the kitchen prompts Marijana to inspect the barrels and uncover the scheme. Alibaba sets fire to the barrels while protecting Marijana, forcing Chotu to flee. In the end, Alibaba distributes the treasure to the underprivileged, and the movie concludes happily with the marriage of Alibaba and Marijana.
