Ashoka Chakravarthy Story
The film begins in Bombay, torn apart by a looming gang war between two dreaded dons, Karim Saheb and Majid Khan. Vedam Venkata Ashok, a spirited young man from an orthodox Brahmin family, struggles to earn a living but finds support in ACP Robin Albert, an honest police officer, and Abdullah, a kind-hearted Muslim who shelters him. Ashok, once a temple priest in his village Krishnapuram, had been betrayed by his uncle Shanmukha Sastry and Aadiseshaiah, who bankrupted his father, Vedam Venkataraya Sastry. To worsen matters, Shanmukha Sastry resented Ashok because his daughter, Urmila, loved him. With the help of a corrupt cop, they framed Ashok for stealing temple jewelry and had him imprisoned. After his release, disowned by his father, Ashok vowed to return rich and powerful. His life takes a turn when he clashes with Majid Khan’s men and, impressed by his bravery, Karim Saheb recruits him. Ashok rises through the underworld ranks, executing daring operations and wiping out Majid Khan’s empire. Though he sends his earnings to Urmila, her brother Krishna Murthy embezzles it. Ashok soon becomes Karim’s trusted right hand, admired by many but envied by his sidekick Kishtaiah and courted unsuccessfully by Preeti.
Meanwhile, Karim’s son Salim falls in love with Anarkali, Abdullah’s daughter, infuriating Karim. Ashok, now transformed by his own trials, convinces Karim of the power of love and helps unite the couple. Urmila, escaping a forced marriage, reaches Bombay, where Robin protects her and later unites her with Ashok. Learning that his family has sunk into poverty, Ashok returns to Krishnapuram and challenges himself to prove his innocence by Vijayadashami. In Bombay, betrayal brews as Kishtaiah and Preeti side with Majid Khan, leading to Karim’s arrest, though Ashok secures his release in time to oversee Salim and Anarkali’s marriage. During the celebrations, Majid Khan attacks, fatally wounding Karim. Ashok retaliates, fleeing Bombay and returning to his village. There, he exposes the villains, recovers the stolen temple jewelry, and clears his name. Venkataraya Sastry welcomes him back into the family, but Ashok humbly declines, believing he is unworthy. In the climax, Majid Khan resurfaces, leading to a final showdown where Ashok defeats the criminals. With Robin bearing witness, Ashok surrenders to the police, closing his journey as both sinner and savior.
