Chandraharam Story
Once upon a time, in the kingdom of Chandana, its King was blessed with a baby boy, Chandan Raju, with the boon of Chandra through the “Chadraharam,” a necklace that preserved his life. Chandan grew into a jack of all trades with ethical and royal moralities under the guidance of his mentor Maali. Years passed, and Chandan was required to marry lest his life be in danger. Hence, his parents procured portraits of princesses. All the while, Chandan affirmed his desire to wed his dream girl. The King commanded Maali to seek her, with Chandan accompanying him.
Chandan’s sly brother-in-law, Dhoomekatu, schemed to usurp the kingdom and instructed his sidekick, Niksheparayudu, to foil his plans. They discovered his beloved Gauri and cunningly hid her. Meanwhile, Chanchala, an angel, tried to entice Chandan, but he denied her. In anger, she snatched his Chadraharam, making him alive only at night. Meanwhile, Gauri escaped and collapsed, whereupon Chanchala’s sister Achala aided her and led her to Chandan. With Maali’s blessing, the two were married.
Dhoomekatu then threatened the King to crown him, and inevitably the King agreed. During this time, Niksheparayudu discovered Gauri’s presence at Maali’s residence and concealed her in a temple. Enraged, Chanchala killed Chandan, while Dhoomekatu incriminated Gauri and sentenced her to the funeral pyre. At last, Gauri’s unwavering love revived Chandan. Chanchala was cursed by Indra, stripped of her divinity. Dhoomekatu and Niksheparayudu also pleaded for pardon. Finally, the movie ended on a happy note with the crowning ceremony of Chandan Raju.
