Janani Janmabhoomi Story

The film begins with Dhananjay Rao, a wealthy but arrogant and atheistic man. His disdain for prayers and worship troubles his benevolent wife, Kathyayini, who also worries about their two sons, Ramesh and Suresh, corrupted by their father’s indulgence. Jagannatha Rao, a government official, collaborates with Dhananjay Rao in corrupt dealings, though he secretly longs to be honest. His greedy wife, however, pushes him to marry their daughter, Padmini (Pammy), to Ramesh, as the two are infatuated. Ramesh is then sent abroad for higher studies and returns after a few years transformed into a patriotic young man. Kathyayini rejoices, but Dhananjay Rao ridicules his newfound ideals as foolishness. Influenced by her mother, Pammy breaks off her relationship with Ramesh due to his stance. Determined, Ramesh travels to their village disguised as a commoner to expose social evils. There, he meets Satyavati, a saree weaver, and falls in love. Seeing the exploitation of weavers by the ruthless middleman Abbaiah Naidu, Ramesh resists and is brutally beaten. Returning home, he declares to his father that he will manage their cement factory while continuing his mission.

With the support of his brother Suresh, Ramesh organizes reforms in the village, liberating saree weavers from exploitation and inspiring youth trapped by corrupt politicians. Together, they build roads, wells, and sanitation facilities, initiating real social change. Meanwhile, Dhananjay Rao conspires to profit from a dam project that Ramesh envisions for the people’s welfare, with Jagannatha Rao eventually siding with him. Kathyayini, determined to support Ramesh’s cause, files a complaint against her husband’s atrocities. Enraged, Dhananjay Rao plots to eliminate Ramesh’s team and forces Kathyayini to withdraw her case. In the tragic climax, Suresh is killed while defending the reform movement, shocking Dhananjay Rao into realizing his mistakes. The film concludes with a powerful proclamation: “Never mind if you are not patriotic, but do not poison your children’s minds. Do not sacrifice them in political games. If the youth rise from despair and disillusionment, they will build the ideal society. Hail to the mother and the Motherland.”
