Maharathi Story

The film begins at Kalyani Music College, run by Naresh Chowdary, which flourishes within a year under the guidance of a gifted tutor, Bala. This sudden rise threatens his arch-rival, Chamundeshwari, the proud owner of Bhairavi Dance Academy, whose institution faces downfall. To reclaim her glory, she recruits a brilliant dancer, Krishna Sarala Subramanyam, who looks identical to Bala and quickly revives her academy. Meanwhile, both Bala and Krishna cross paths with Naresh Chowdary’s daughter Kalyani, leaving her confused at first, but she soon realizes they are two distinct personalities. Bala encourages Kalyani’s admiration for Krishna from behind the scenes, while Krishna himself courts her openly, winning her affection. However, Naresh Chowdary resists the match due to his bitter past with Chamundeshwari—his ex-wife, with whom he parted ways after ego clashes, splitting custody of their daughters Bhairavi and Kalyani. When Kalyani descends into obsession, demanding Krishna, Bala intervenes, convincing Naresh to approach Chamundeshwari. Together, they meet Krishna, only for Naresh to be bewildered by his uncanny resemblance to Bala.

As the mystery unfolds, Krishna and Bala are revealed to be the same man—Balakrishna (Balayya)—who recounts his past. Years earlier in Vizag, Balayya lived as an unrefined laborer with his mother Saralamma, beloved by his community. There, researcher Bhairavi discovered his innate talent for dance and fell in love with him. Chamundeshwari, threatened by this, pretended to approve but insulted Saralamma, pushing her to suicide. Devastated, Bhairavi also took her own life in remorse, shattering Balayya’s world. Haunted by their loss, he wandered aimlessly until Bhairavi’s vision inspired him to hone his craft, prove his worth, and one day marry Kalyani to settle scores with Chamundeshwari. With this revelation, Chamundeshwari is humbled, seeking Balayya’s forgiveness, and is reconciled with Naresh Chowdary. At last, Balayya marries Kalyani, fulfilling both Bhairavi’s dream and his mother’s blessing, bringing closure to a saga of pride, loss, and redemption.
