Mangamma Gari Manavadu Story

The film begins in a village where Mangamma, an indomitable woman, lives with her brave grandson Veeranna. The village is in constant feud with the neighboring one, led by the bloodthirsty Basavaiah. Chantabbai, Mangamma’s son-in-law, always defeats Basavaiah in the bullfight, which enrages him. For years, Mangamma’s family and Chantabbai’s family have been at odds. However, Veeranna loves his cousin Malli, and their affection helps heal the rift. The elders agree to their marriage. Meanwhile, Chantabbai has an adulterous affair with the cunning Chintamani, whose brother, Chandarraju, is also in love with Malli. When Chintamani turns to Basavaiah, the three conspire on the eve of the bullfight festival. Basavaiah provokes the drunken Chantabbai into promising his daughter’s hand to whoever defeats his bull. Chandarraju tricks him by drugging the bull and wins, forcing Chantabbai into disgrace. Soon after, Basavaiah demands Malli’s surrender, but Mangamma’s defiance drives them away, and the village prepares for Veeranna and Malli’s wedding. While collecting wedding supplies, Veeranna is ambushed and backstabbed by Basavaiah, who declares him dead. Malli, unable to bear the grief, loses her sanity, while her compassionate teacher continues writing letters in Veeranna’s name.

A year later, Malli receives a letter announcing Veeranna’s return, filling her with joy. However, she collapses when she sees him arrive with a Punjabi girl, whom everyone assumes is his wife. Veeranna explains that after being attacked, he believed he had killed Basavaiah’s men and fled, joining the army. There, he befriended Azim Singh, who died protecting him in battle, entrusting his sister (the Punjabi girl) to Veeranna’s care. Mangamma insists that Veeranna marry the Punjabi girl, but learning the truth, the girl prepares to leave. Malli stops her, dresses her as a bride, and attempts suicide, only to be abducted by Basavaiah and Chandarraju. In the climax, Mangamma and Veeranna defeat the villains, but the Punjabi girl sacrifices her life to protect Mangamma. Finally, the story ends happily with the marriage of Veeranna and Malli.
