Gaayam Story
The film begins with crime lord Durga, who seeks justice for the needy failed by the law and order system. When a victim reports his daughter’s molestation, Durga punishes the culprits but is quickly arrested and released by newly appointed cop Bharadwaj. On the way, Durga encounters his former love Anitha, and memories of their college romance resurface. Back then, Anitha, an idealistic journalism student, had agreed to marry him only if he avoided his brother Mohana Krishna’s criminal path. But when rival corporator Gurunarayana murders Mohana Krishna for political gain, Durga avenges the crime and rises to power, pushing Anitha away as she detests his violent ways. Now, Anitha is a fearless journalist married to Bharadwaj, while Durga’s cousin Chitra secretly loves and supports him. Meanwhile, Gurunarayana, now an MLA, releases gangster Sarkar to oppose Durga, sparking a bloody gang war. Sarkar orchestrates a deadly attack at a theater, shaking Anitha, who confronts Durga in vain. Later, Gurunarayana abducts Chitra, framing Durga for crimes, and Bharadwaj imprisons him after Gurunarayana eliminates key witnesses.
As Gurunarayana plots to become Chief Minister by inciting religious riots, destruction grips the state. Bharadwaj bravely combats Gurunarayana’s men, but Anitha’s attempts to expose the truth are sabotaged by her editor, who hands evidence to Gurunarayana. In his lust for power, Gurunarayana plans a staged bombing during Ganesh Nimarjan to gain sympathy. The police, aware of his conspiracy, release Durga and enlist his help, assigning Bharadwaj to maintain order. When Gurunarayana threatens Anitha’s husband, she joins forces with Durga. Sarkar plots the bombing from a theater hideout, but Durga and Bharadwaj intercept him, preventing mass casualties. In the final confrontation, the bomb explodes harmlessly, Sarkar dies, and Gurunarayana is critically injured before being sentenced. The film ends with Anitha expressing gratitude to Durga, who resolves to choose a new, reformed path.
