Mother India Story
The film begins with the 1960’s Government Land Ceiling Act. A ruthless landlord, Duryodhana Rao, manipulates the law by registering his 200 acres of land under the names of oppressed men under his control. His associate Jaganatham cleverly transfers his land to his sister Rajyalakshmi before moving to the city. When the deception is exposed, it is too late—Rajyalakshmi’s family suffers the most. Her husband Krishna Murthy becomes a wanderer, and Rajyalakshmi struggles to raise their three children by farming the little land left. The youngest, Sivaji, sacrifices his education to support her. Years later, through their toil, they make the eldest son, Ashok, an IAS officer, but he grows selfish. Meanwhile, Jaganatham becomes an MP, continuing to exploit farmers with Duryodhana Rao and his wife Mahakaali, cheating laborers and suppressing rights. Rajyalakshmi and Sivaji join hands with union leader Bheemudu to fight back. They expose the fraudulent dealings of the villains and retrieve swindled bank funds, but the antagonists try to turn farmers against laborers without success. Ashok, now a Collector and married into Jaganatham’s family, distances himself from his mother. When farmers attempt to bypass middlemen and store their produce, Duryodhana’s son Bullabbai burns the stock, framing Bheemudu, though Rajyalakshmi and Sivaji save him.
Determined, Sivaji demands repayment for the crop but faces a trap when Jaganatham spreads false allegations linking Rajyalakshmi’s daughter Sudha with his nephew Suribabu. With Bheemudu’s help, Sivaji clears their names and recovers the dues. Furious, the villains distribute fake seeds and fertilizers, devastating crops and driving farmers to suicide. They also pressure bankers to seize debts until Rajyalakshmi intervenes. When Jaganatham provokes Ashok against his own people, a violent clash kills an innocent man. Enraged, Rajyalakshmi launches a mass movement, forcing the government to bow down and dethrone Jaganatham. In retaliation, the villains plan the massacre of the entire village, during which Rajyalakshmi is fatally shot. In the climax, Ashok reforms, unites with Sivaji, and destroys the oppressors. The film ends with Rajyalakshmi’s dying proclamation: “This struggle continues forever until the formation of a Peasant State.”
