Pelli Peetalu Story

Gopi is a humble, self-respecting young man who runs a small watch shop in his hometown. He falls in love with his neighbor Anjali, who lives with her two elder sisters, Aswini and Aruna, and their grandmother. Anjali is the sole breadwinner of the family, constantly harassed by her troublesome stepbrother, Raghu. Though Anjali loves Gopi, she hesitates to commit because of her sisters’ responsibilities. Determined, Gopi steps in and takes charge of the family. He arranges the marriage of Aswini, who is mute, to his friend Brahmaji, and later learns of Aruna’s love for Ravindra. However, Ravindra’s greedy mother demands a hefty dowry of one lakh rupees. To fulfill this, Gopi sells his shop and even sacrifices his pride by working for a wealthy shop owner, Tatabbai.

On the eve of Aruna’s wedding, Raghu steals the ornaments, leading to a heated confrontation in which Gopi accidentally kills him. From then on, Gopi and Anjali face numerous struggles while trying to conceal the truth and keep the marriage proceedings intact. Eventually, Gopi surrenders to the police and is sentenced to five years in prison. The film ends on a hopeful note when, after completing his sentence, Gopi returns home to find Anjali waiting for him with love and warmth, marking a happy reunion.
