Raguluthunna Bharatham Story

The film begins in 1947 at the Cellular Jail, Andaman, where three prisoners—Raghupati, Raghava, and Rajaram—escape and part ways. Amidst the chaos, Raghupati, a true patriot, slips into a coma and wakes up 45 years later. By then, Raghava Rao has risen to power as Chief Minister, ruling with tyranny alongside his ruthless son Tilak. Stepping into independent India, Raghupati is warmly welcomed by the CM and admitted to a hospital. Meanwhile, Tilak murders a journalist who exposes their barbarities, but he is rescued by a courageous cop, Inspector Pratap, who is also hospitalized after a clash. The villains orchestrate a bomb blast, yet Raghupati survives and receives a call from Rajaram, who has become a Naxalite continuing his fight against corruption. Rajaram explains the harsh realities to Raghupati. While fleeing from goons, Raghupati helps reporter Swetha, only to be declared dead after the bomb explodes. Choosing to remain in hiding to counter the system, he begins living with Swetha, a single mother, and her son Vicky. Raghupati also discovers that Swetha and Pratap are estranged due to ego and reunites them. Along the way, he befriends Taxi Babai, a spirited man who constantly criticizes the oppressive government. Tragedy strikes when Tilak entraps Bharati, Raghupati’s daughter, into a forced marriage and later kills her, disguising it as an accident.

Gradually, Raghupati recognizes the difference between “virtual” and “real” freedom and revolts against the villains. Declared insane and tortured, he is freed by Rajaram, who kidnaps Tilak. The three ex-prison mates reunite, though they differ on ideology. Raghupati then launches a non-violent anti-government movement called Jaathisena. To crush it, Tilak kills Taxi Babai, but when Pratap apprehends him, the authorities falsely declare Tilak innocent. Disillusioned, Pratap resigns and joins Jaathisena. Inspired by Raghupati, the movement awakens the social conscience of the nation, ultimately toppling Raghava Rao’s rule. In desperation, Raghava and Tilak plot to assassinate Raghupati with mass violence. In the climax, Raghupati is fatally shot, but the enraged public rises, destroys the oppressors, and carries forward his ideals. The movie concludes with Pratap, Swetha, and their son continuing Raghupati’s mission.
