Ammaye Navvithe Story
The film begins in the village of Talamanchi, where Seshadri Naidu serves as an arbiter, revered like a deity for mandating capital punishments in the name of justice. He is the patriarch of a large joint family and dotes on his mischievous daughter, Sirisha. Seshadri Naidu also runs a college in the town, known for its feudal traditions and strictness towards women, where Sirisha studies. Into this world enters Sundaram, a young, charming, and comical man, who arrives to apply for the vacant Hindi lecturer post. With the help of his friend DD, a fellow tutor, Sundaram earns Seshadri Naidu’s trust through wit and manages to secure the job. In time, he falls in love with Sirisha. Meanwhile, Seshadri Naidu’s estranged sister, Rajeswari, who had eloped long ago with her lover, resurfaces through her friend Nirmala. Nirmala instantly finds Sundaram strangely familiar. Sundaram begins wooing Sirisha, and in a playful twist, he bets DD that he can make her propose within 15 days. When Seshadri Naidu learns of this, he furiously decrees that Sundaram has exactly 15 days to win her love—or face the death penalty. From here, Sundaram’s attempts to win Sirisha’s heart unfold in a series of humorous episodes. Though Sirisha secretly likes him, she teases and delays, planning to confess only at the last moment.
Just before she reveals her feelings, DD urges Sundaram to flee, but Sundaram refuses, ready to face execution. As he is dragged to his supposed death, Nirmala interrupts, claiming that Sundaram is the son of Rajeswari—therefore Naidu’s nephew. Elated, Sundaram embraces his new identity, but later Nirmala confesses it was a lie to save him. When the truth slips out, the family nevertheless showers him with affection, fixing his marriage with Sirisha. But in a slip of the tongue, Sundaram accidentally declares Rajeswari’s death. Troubled, he later admits the whole truth to Sirisha, who admires his honesty. Out of the blue, Rajeswari herself arrives at Nirmala’s home, confirming the full story in front of Sundaram and Sirisha. Unable to continue living under false pretenses, Sundaram confesses everything and readies himself for punishment. At the climax, Rajeswari shields Sundaram, publicly acknowledging him as her son, and the remorseful Seshadri Naidu seeks forgiveness. The film ends happily with the marriage of Sundaram and Sirisha, uniting the family once again.
