Andagadu

The film begins with Sundaram, a grotesque-looking but good-spirited ad film music director. Because of his appearance, he suffers repeated humiliations and rejections in marriage proposals. His first matchmaking attempt with Suvarna fails when she mocks his looks, though she later realizes his virtue after being trapped in an abusive marriage. In another instance, a bride confesses her love for someone else, and Sundaram magnanimously unites them, leaving himself ridiculed again. Later, his sister Sudha and brother-in-law Viswanatham arrange an alliance with Sujatha, but on the wedding eve, she reveals she is pregnant with her brother-in-law’s child, forcing Sundaram to merge them as well. Dejected, Sundaram becomes obsessed with the legend of Mohini Pisachi, seductive female spirits that prey on bachelors. Believing he may never win a mortal woman’s heart, he even consults a fraudulent sorcerer for help. On his way back, a mysterious girl named Ramya enters his life, hiding in his car and later in his house. Mistaking her for a Mohini, Sundaram begins a quirky game of hide-and-seek with her, during which their bond deepens.

Eventually, Ramya reveals her true identity—she is the sister of actress Madhuri, who tried to force her into films to revive her failing career. Escaping this pressure, Ramya found refuge with Sundaram. From then, his life transforms: his career flourishes, and Ramya lovingly helps him shed his insecurities, making even his mockers respect him. Sundaram falls deeply in love, but before he can confess, Ramya reveals she is already committed to Karthik, who advised her to stay hidden in India until he returned from the US. Heartbroken, Sundaram selflessly unites her with Karthik and bids her farewell. Stricken with grief, he loses his sanity until Ramya unexpectedly reappears, claiming she killed herself after Karthik doubted her purity and returned as a Mohini. She demands Sundaram sacrifice himself so they can be together in death. Just as Sundaram prepares to comply, Ramya halts him, confessing it was only a test of his love. Touched by his unwavering devotion, she pledges to stay with him forever. The film ends on a happy note with Ramya declaring her love and choosing Sundaram as her true partner.
