Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw Story
The film begins in a quirky village filled with colorful characters: Bullebbai, a lottery ticket agent; Pala Pullaiah, the local dairy farmer; Pilli Pentaiah, a fake political leader; Chanti, the barber; Mallika Sharbat, who runs a tea stall; and Varadaraju, a nominal king. Varadaraju, indebted to Pullaiah, sends his son Kittu to live with him, where Kittu falls in love with Pullaiah’s daughter, Bhagyalakshmi. However, the tyrannical moneylender Renuka Rani and her wayward brother Aphis also covet Bhagyalakshmi and forcibly arrange her engagement. Kittu and Bhagyalakshmi plan to elope, but complications arise when Aphis insults a woman from the neighboring village, prompting her brother Sarvarayudu to seek revenge. Meanwhile, Bullebbai discovers that one of his tickets has won ₹1 crore and deduces that the winner is town drunkard Yesudas Gotham. When he finds Yesudas dead with the ticket clutched in his hand, Bullebbai ropes in Pullaiah and Kittu to conceal the body and claim the prize. Their attempts to dispose of the corpse spiral into comedic chaos as more villagers get entangled, each demanding a share of the winnings. To cover their tracks, they even disguise Yesudas’s brother Joshua as him during a lottery inspection.
The situation worsens when Aphis blackmails them for Bhagyalakshmi’s hand, but fate intervenes as Sarvarayudu abducts Aphis to forcibly marry him off to Bullipapa, a rejected bride from his earlier insult. Meanwhile, Kittu and Bhagyalakshmi’s wedding is set, just as the Lottery Inspector returns with the prize money. Chaos erupts again when Renuka Rani discovers Aphis’s disappearance. A frantic chase ensues, ending with Sarvarayudu delivering Aphis’s comeuppance and Renuka Rani dying in a freak accident by plunging into the town river. In the aftermath, the villagers unite, abandon greed, and celebrate Kittu and Bhagyalakshmi’s union. The film concludes on a heartfelt note, with the entire village paying homage to the late Yesudas Gotham by inaugurating his statue—acknowledging the man whose lottery fortune triggered all the madness.
