Chinnodu-Peddodu Story

The film begins in a village where siblings Chinnodu and Peddodu live with their maternal grandmother, working in a spinning mill and often amusing everyone with their playful antics. Lakshmi, a young widow and saree weaver, shows unusual affection for Peddodu, which he gradually reciprocates. News arrives that their wealthy uncle Jaganadham, along with his wife Parvati and daughter Kavitha, is visiting after a long time. Their grandmother assumes he will marry Kavitha to one of her grandsons. But Jaganadham instead arranges her wedding to Murali, heir of the spinning mill, enraging his mother. She curses them, expels his family, and forbids her grandsons from attending the marriage. However, their jobs force them to be present on the groom’s side. Tragedy strikes when Jaganadham and Parvati die in an accident just before the wedding. Burdened with debts, Kavitha cancels the marriage, and her relatives cast her aside. Regretting her anger, the grandmother supports Kavitha, and the brothers vow to protect her. Kavitha then stays with them and agrees to wed one of them, leading both brothers to compete for her affection. Meanwhile, Murali, still coveting Kavitha, is beaten by the brothers, and in anger joins hands with a ruthless moneylender, Thelukondi.

Chinnodu chooses a righteous path, working hard to earn a livelihood, while the unemployed Peddodu is lured by Thelukondi into sandalwood smuggling. Despite his family’s disapproval, Peddodu succumbs to temptation. Over time, Kavitha falls for the honest Chinnodu, while Peddodu distances himself. In a cruel twist, the police mistakenly arrest Chinnodu instead of Peddodu, and their grandmother dies soon after, condemning Peddodu and banning him from her funeral. Spurned by both Chinnodu and Kavitha, he finds solace with Lakshmi, who accepts him. While Chinnodu serves a three-month sentence, Peddodu redeems himself by defeating Thelukondi and proving his worth. Upon Chinnodu’s release, Peddodu arranges his marriage with Kavitha, while preparing to wed Lakshmi himself. But Murali abducts Kavitha, forcing the brothers into a final confrontation. During the clash, Peddodu orders Chinnodu to rescue Kavitha while he stays behind. He kills Murali, surrenders to the police, and ensures Chinnodu’s marriage takes place. After serving a five-year sentence, Peddodu returns, and the story ends happily with both brothers beginning their married lives—Chinnodu with Kavitha and Peddodu with Lakshmi.
