College Kumar Story
The film begins with Sasi Kumar, also known as Thiru Kumaran, a generous peon working under his arrogant childhood friend, auditor Madhava Rao. While Madhava Rao rose in life through education, Kumar was left behind due to poverty. At a crucial moment, Kumar’s wife Janaki goes into labor during an office audit, and in his panic, Kumar spoils important documents. That same day, he receives the joyful news of his son Siva Kumar’s birth, but Madhava Rao humiliates him and mocks the newborn as a futile child. Angered, Kumar vows to mold his son into a man greater than Madhava Rao. Years pass as Kumar toils for Siva’s education, sacrificing everything to secure him admission into a reputed college. However, Siva grows ashamed of his father’s lowly job, lies about his background, and falsifies records to pose as a topper. His deception continues successfully for a year, until a new junior, Avantika, enters the college. Their relationship begins with quarrels but blossoms into love. Kumar forwards a marriage proposal, only to discover Avantika is Madhava Rao’s daughter. Twice insulted by Madhava Rao, Kumar remains determined that his son will surpass him in stature and wed Avantika. But when Siva is caught cheating by the principal, Santhosh Kumar G, his reputation collapses, exposing the truth before his parents. Heartbroken, Kumar falters, but Janaki pushes him forward.
Siva, frustrated, lashes out and challenges his father, declaring he will take responsibility for the household if Kumar dares to graduate. Rising to the challenge, Kumar secures admission with help from lecturer Bhavana, his teenage crush. A brief, lighthearted romance emerges between them, adding comic relief. Meanwhile, Siva struggles to balance bills and survival, eventually utilizing his cooking talent to win a college canteen contract. Kumar, on the other hand, throws himself wholeheartedly into studies, winning the admiration of his teachers and principal, aided by Avantika’s support. As he reaches his final year, public and media applause crown his journey, but he becomes disheartened when everyone belittles Siva as a failure. On the verge of quitting, Kumar decides not to appear for the exams, but Siva redeems himself, brings his father back, and urges him to complete his journey. At last, Kumar triumphs, becoming a respected auditor at the age of 50. Siva also succeeds, growing into a thriving restaurateur. Humbled, Madhava Rao apologizes and blesses the union of Siva and Avantika. The film ends on a hopeful note with the proclamation: “There is no age limit for Education.”
