Family Circus Story
The film begins with Subramanyam “Subbu,” a naïve but kind-hearted manager, who marries the stern and no-nonsense Durga. The couple adopts his late sister’s two sons, and soon after, Durga gives birth to twins. The mischievous brood creates endless chaos, forcing Subbu to move houses repeatedly. At last, he buys his own home in a neighborhood filled with eccentric characters, including a retired Lance Naik, Bhagath; the loudmouthed neighbor, Santharam; and a group of quirky feminists. Trouble brews when a pushy tenant, Pataudi, insists on renting half of Subbu’s house at double the rate, but only under conditions favorable to him. Pataudi arrives with his overbearing wife Kantham, their two equally naughty children, and his teenage sister-in-law Sujatha. Soon, Subbu realizes why Pataudi was willing to pay so much—his family is a nightmare. Matters worsen when Sujatha, infatuated with Subbu, begins stalking him, while Babloo, who loves her, bullies Subbu with his gang.
As if this weren’t enough, Durga becomes pregnant again and starts suspecting her husband’s closeness with Sujatha. Subbu tries to handle the issue delicately by appealing to Sujatha’s elders, but every attempt backfires, causing further tension at home. Eventually, he confides in Kantham, who understands his virtue. However, Durga misinterprets their conversation and, in her distress, goes into labor. Subbu rushes her to the hospital with Pataudi and Kantham’s help, cementing a newfound bond between the families. Meanwhile, Sujatha dramatically threatens to propose to Subbu by standing atop a water tank, but her antics collapse when Pataudi slaps her into sense. Babloo’s gang also flees in fear when Subbu finally explodes in anger. In the end, Durga realizes Subbu’s integrity through Kantham’s words, seeks forgiveness, and delivers twin baby girls. The movie closes on a comic note with the family circus repeating itself, celebrating life’s chaos with warmth and laughter.
