Gandhinagar Rendava Veedhi Story
The film begins with a bourgeoisie, Prasad, who lives with his mother and sister and struggles with a modest income. He works at Gandhinagar 2nd Street, a colony where people of diverse mindsets live together: the vainglorious Bharati with her contractor husband Ramchandraiah and wayward son Raghu; the vulgar poet Srikalam, his shrewish wife Sarpakam, and their daughter; and above all, a benevolent school teacher, Sarada, whose husband Ravi is working in [[Dubai]]. Once, Prabhu—Prasad’s childhood friend—arrives in search of a job. Though Prasad tries to get rid of him, Prabhu stubbornly stays. Meanwhile, a series of robberies trouble the colony, secretly committed by the spoiled sons of Bharati and Srikalam. To resolve the issue, the committee decides to appoint a [[Gurkha|Gorkha]] as security. To help, Prasad disguises Prabhu as Ram Singh, a Nepali émigré, securing him employment. Ram Singh quickly wins over the residents, especially Sarada, who treats him with sisterly affection. But the thefts persist, and the colony threatens to remove him. To protect Prabhu, Prasad disguises himself as the thief, but bad luck exposes him, and he flees after being beaten. Before leaving, he reveals the truth to Sarada, who remains silent but promises to support Prabhu. Soon after, a police officer moves into the colony—who turns out to be Geeta’s father. Prabhu is shocked, for Geeta was his past love.
Years earlier, Geeta and Prabhu had been neighbors. She admired his innocence and often defended him, and in time they fell in love, only for their bond to shatter tragically. In the present, Prabhu tries to reconcile, but Geeta despises him. Matters worsen when Raghu misbehaves with her and Prabhu, as Ram Singh, thrashes him. Enraged, Ramchandraiah and Bharati falsely accuse Prabhu of having an affair with Sarada, turning the colony against him. Still, Sarada shields him, knowing of his true love for Geeta. Meanwhile, Ravi returns from Dubai, and the colony tries to poison his mind with gossip, but he declares his full faith in Sarada. Later, Ravi approaches Geeta’s father with a marriage proposal. Shockingly, her father proclaims her a widow, devastating Prabhu. Ravi confronts him, demanding the truth, and Prabhu confesses: on bad advice from his friends, he once tried to consummate his relationship with Geeta prematurely, leading to their breakup—a sin he has repented ever since. In the end, Ravi cleverly helps Geeta recognize Prabhu’s remorse and goodness. Finally, the movie ends on a lighthearted note with the marriage of Prabhu and Geeta.
