Kannayya Kittayya Story
The film begins in a village where Kittayya, a devout follower of Lord Krishna, affectionately calls him Kannayya. He constantly opposes the atrocities of his malicious maternal uncle, Bangaraiah, with whom his family shares a bitter feud. Kittayya’s mother, Janakamma, is determined to marry Bangaraiah’s daughter, Saroja, to Kittayya in order to humble her arrogant brother. Saroja, vain and prideful, returns from abroad, and Kittayya mocks her, igniting further enmity. In revenge, Bangaraiah publicly humiliates them with a sly trick. Shattered by shame, Janakamma attempts suicide, but Kittayya swears to make Bangaraiah bow before them. Angered, he rebukes the Lord himself, and his words reach Krishna in Vaikuntha. Alarmed, Kannayya—identical in appearance to Kittayya—descends to Earth. Though invisible to others, Kannayya guides Kittayya, who gradually wins Saroja’s heart. Ultimately, Kittayya saves her from danger, earning her love. Enraged, Bangaraiah sets multiple traps, including attempted murder and false robbery charges. At every step, Kannayya protects Kittayya, who vows not to let the Lord leave his side until his marriage is secured.
Meanwhile, Narada misunderstands the situation and informs Rukmini and Satyabhama that Krishna is romancing a mortal woman. The goddesses descend to Earth, forsaking their divinity, and after several comic scenes, they mistake Kittayya for their husband, claiming to be his wives. Exploiting this confusion, Bangaraiah stirs chaos. Unaware of the truth, Kittayya grows furious and even threatens the deities. Bangaraiah then conspires to kill the women, blaming Kittayya. Kannayya encourages Kittayya to challenge his uncle, promising that if he could present the goddesses before the villagers, Bangaraiah must marry Saroja to him. But the tables turn when Rukmini and Satyabhama seize Kannayya and carry him away, leaving Kittayya to endure torture and humiliation. In the end, through his unwavering devotion, Kittayya brings Kannayya back, proves his innocence, and reforms Bangaraiah. The story concludes joyfully with Kittayya marrying Saroja, as everyone acknowledges the divine presence of both Kannayya and Kittayya.
