Ladies Doctor Story
The film begins with Dr. Ram Prasad, a trifler medic without patients or practice. He frequently encounters the charming Rani, falls for her, and eventually wins her approval despite her initial disdain for love. Meanwhile, Janaki, a deeply orthodox woman bound by old customs, vows that no man should touch her except her fiancé. Fate entangles Ram Prasad with Janaki when she suffers from appendicitis and insists on being treated only by a female doctor, even at the risk of death. In disguise, Ram Prasad performs the surgery and saves her life. Upon learning the truth, Janaki, enraged but resolute, declares Ram Prasad her husband to preserve her chastity. Matters escalate when her brother, Ramadasu, a hardened criminal temporarily freed on parole, learns the situation. He compels Ram Prasad to propose to Janaki, revealing a hidden past: Ram Prasad is his distant relative, and Ramadasu once bribed to raise his grades from 30% to 60% on the condition that he would marry his daughter. Pressured by Ramadasu and fearing Janaki’s extreme devotion, Ram Prasad continues the charade while still entangled with Rani.
Ram Prasad now juggles between the two women, with both families pressing marriage upon him under dire threats. Over time, he comes to recognize Janaki’s genuine and unconditional love, though he also remains attached to Rani. When he suggests uniting together, both women reject the idea. Desperate, Janaki and Rani separately consult wizards Goshanam and Pashanam, seeking black magic to win Ram Prasad’s heart. This sparks a hilarious “tug-of-war” of sorcery, with Ram Prasad caught in between. Unable to endure his torment, the two women reconcile, but the wizards’ spells nearly cost him his life. In their regret, Janaki and Rani pray fervently to the goddess, who appears in human form to resolve the matter by declaring Ram Prasad should marry both women. In the end, Ram Prasad reveals that the goddess was actually his friend Ramya, staging the drama to unite them. The film concludes comically and happily with Ram Prasad accepting both Janaki and Rani as his wives, living as a husband to “two queens.”
