Madam Story
The film begins with Prasad, a voice-over artist, whose wealthy best friend Bobby is in love with a girl named Kalpana. A misunderstanding arises, and Kalpana instead falls for Prasad. Unaware of this twist, they approach her authoritarian brother, Major Chandrakanth, who approves the alliance. Meanwhile, Bobby’s grandmother, Sarada Devi—who raised him and wishes to see his marriage—lies on her deathbed. To fulfill her last wish, Prasad approaches Kalpana but, upon learning of Bobby’s plight and fearing Chandrakanth, quietly backs off. Desperate to find a bride for Sarada Devi to bless, Prasad disguises himself as a woman named Sarojini. Unexpectedly, Sarada Devi recovers and insists Sarojini remain with her. A noble social reformer, Sarada Devi, who founded a women’s college, appoints Sarojini as a lecturer. She also arranges for Soundarya, a student with whom Prasad was already secretly in love, to stay as a lodger. Juggling his double identity, Prasad also masquerades as a rich man to impress Soundarya, further entangling himself.
Things grow more complicated when, while hiding from Kalpana, Prasad adopts yet another disguise as a modern woman named Mandakini, attracting the attention of Rayudu, an aging bachelor photographer. Rayudu inadvertently captures Prasad’s real identity in a photograph, forcing him into yet another disguise. Meanwhile, Soundarya’s brother-in-law throws her sister out for dowry, and Sarojini (Prasad) courageously intervenes, earning public praise as a reformer nicknamed “Madam.” Rayudu’s PA soon discovers the secret and blackmails Prasad, exploiting Madam’s fame for donations, which Prasad cleverly redirects toward noble causes. The farce spirals when engagements for Soundarya with Prasad, Kalpana with Bobby, and Rayudu with Mandakini are arranged simultaneously at a temple, creating utter confusion and chaos. Determined to end the mess, Prasad plans with Bobby to “kill off” the Madam persona. Misunderstanding this, Soundarya alerts Sarada Devi, who then learns the entire truth. Recognizing that Sarojini (Madam) has already achieved great social impact, Sarada Devi decides to keep the secret alive. In a comic finale, the Madam character is publicly declared dead, with a tribute ceremony celebrating her legacy.
