Mr.Pellam Story
The film begins in Vaikuntha, where Narada mischievously creates a rift between Vishnu and Lakshmi over the superiority of men and women. Their quarrel shifts the tale to Earth, where Balaji, a bank employee, lives with his devoted wife, Jhansi, and their two young children. From dawn till dusk, Jhansi toils with household chores, keeping everyone satisfied, while Balaji belittles her efforts, much to Lakshmi’s irritation. Balaji soon earns a promotion as head cashier and proudly purchases a television on installments—the first in his colony. But on his very first day, his cunning manager falsely implicates him in the theft of ₹1,00,000. Suspended and humiliated, Balaji sinks into despair until Jhansi consoles him. When his repeated attempts to find another job fail due to his tarnished record, Jhansi—armed with her B.Com degree—decides to work. Initially opposed out of male pride, Balaji reluctantly accepts. Jhansi joins Annapurna Foods, headed by her former classmate Gopala Krishna. With her intelligence and innovative ideas, she impresses the board and is appointed vice president with a salary of ₹10,000, though she tells Balaji it is only ₹3,000, hiding the truth to protect his dignity.
Meanwhile, Lakshmi mocks Vishnu for their swapped roles, and Vishnu cleverly adjusts their positions. At home, Balaji challenges Jhansi, assuming household work is easy, only to fail miserably at cooking, child care, and daily chores. When a company phone line is installed in their house, Balaji gets engrossed and neglects the children, leading to rebukes. During a Krishnashtami celebration at Gopal’s farmhouse, tensions escalate as Balaji accuses Jhansi of deliberately undermining him. Ego clashes intensify when Jhansi refuses to pay the TV installment, cutting off service. Yet, Jhansi excels at work, secures a sales bonus, and even takes a loan from Gopal to secretly repay Balaji’s dues. When she offers him ₹1,00,000 to deposit in the bank, Balaji breaks down, feeling mistrusted and insulted as a thief. In anguish, he leaves home, and their children, disturbed by their quarrels, run away. Realizing the trap, Balaji confronts the manager and, with Gopal and Jhansi’s help, stages a clever plan. The manager is exposed, Balaji is reinstated, and Jhansi’s worth is acknowledged. In the end, Balaji admits his wife’s superiority. Back in Vaikuntha, Vishnu and Lakshmi reconcile, while on Earth, men humorously pretend to touch their wives’ feet but slyly pull them down. The film ends happily with a touch of realism.
