Naku Pellam Kavali Story
The film begins in a village where Bullabbai, a fair and well-meaning man, opens a movie house that receives immense applause. He has two mischievous sons, Rama and Lakshmana, whose tomfoolery constantly troubles him. Bullabbai arranges Rama’s marriage with Rekha, the daughter of school teacher Viswanatham from the neighboring village. Meanwhile, Lakshmana persistently pesters his father for his own marriage, but Bullabbai denies him with a comic vow of celibacy. Rama proceeds for the matchmaking but unexpectedly encounters a girl named Sita, where sparks fly between them. Destiny makes Sita the bride in his path, and they fall in love. Soon after, Rama realizes he has mistakenly gone to the wrong family but, enchanted by Sita, decides to marry her. He wins her affection despite her fiery brother Shankar Rao’s wrath. While Rama wants to marry Sita, Bullabbai finalizes his marriage with Rekha. Rama then openly declares his love for Sita and refuses the arranged match, shocking Viswanatham. Distraught, Rekha attempts suicide and survives but is left mute, which enrages Bullabbai, who insists on treating Rekha as his daughter-in-law. Shankar Rao, in turn, arranges Sita’s forced marriage elsewhere.
On the wedding eve, Lakshmana comforts Rekha and, unable to bear his brother’s suffering, stages a fake suicide drama involving Rama and Sita to soften the elders’ hearts. The plan works temporarily, shifting the family’s attitude, until Lakshmana’s deception is exposed. Chaos follows as everyone chases him in anger, and in desperation he catches Rekha’s hand for protection. To everyone’s surprise, this act reveals his genuine feelings for her. Ultimately, Bullabbai is delighted to fulfill his younger son’s wish, while Shankar Rao too relents and consents to Sita’s union with Rama. Finally, the film concludes happily with the double marriages of Rama & Sita and Lakshmana & Rekha.
