Rambha Rambabu Story

The film begins in a small village where the naïve Rambabu harbors a bizarre dream: he wants to marry the celestial apsara Rambha. Everyone mocks him for his lofty ambition, while his mother, Janakamma, arranges a more conventional marriage. Her cunning brother, Garalakantam, schemes to wed Rambabu to his own daughter Chittitalli in order to seize Rambabu’s property. Determined, Rambabu undertakes a great penance and astonishingly succeeds—winning Rambha’s hand with the blessings of sage Narada. Janakamma, however, refuses to accept the union and conspires with Garalakantam to separate the couple, though their tricks fail. After a series of comic escapades, Rambha and Rambabu inadvertently offend Narada, who retaliates by informing Indra. The King of the Gods abducts Rambha, imprisoning her in heaven. With unshakable will, Rambabu storms heaven, confronts Indra, and rescues his beloved.

The adventure doesn’t end there. Rambabu then finds himself in hell, where he secretly witnesses Yama’s court of justice. He observes the punishments of sinners and boldly proclaims remedies for humanity, ensuring that no souls descend into hell. This sparks a confrontation between Yama and Indra, instigated by Narada’s mischief, leading to a celestial battle. At the height of the conflict, Rambha and Rambabu are summoned. When Indra attempts to attack Rambabu in fury, Rambha shields her husband and is turned into a statue. Just as Rambabu despairs, the twist is revealed—it was all a dream. Awakening, he finds Janakamma still forcing him into marriage, but in a stroke of fortune, the bride Padmakshi turns out to be the very same girl from his dream. The film closes joyfully with Rambabu’s marriage to Padmakshi, blending fantasy and reality.
