Story
The film begins with Simhachalam, a wealthy man obsessed with prestige, who has two daughters, Manju and Priya. He vows to arrange affluent marriages for them. Manju studies away from home, where she is harassed by a poor collegian, Shankar. Around the same time, Raja, a carefree and unemployed youth trying odd jobs, rescues Manju from Shankar’s advances. Amused by his antics and grateful for his protection, Manju falls in love with Raja, and he too loves her but feels restrained by the gulf in their social status. Satish, a rich friend of both families, tactically brings Raja and Manju into his mansion before leaving on a trip. When Manju informs her father of her marriage to Raja, Simhachalam is furious, disowns her, and suffers a heart attack. Later, Priya persuades him to visit the “newlyweds,” where Simhachalam mistakenly assumes Satish is his son-in-law and Raja is just a cook, owing to their disguises. To protect Simhachalam’s health, Raja and Manju maintain the act.
As events unfold, Satish returns and develops feelings for Priya, but she brushes him off, mistaking him for her brother-in-law. Meanwhile, Simhachalam constantly humiliates Raja, who endures it silently. Gradually, Priya sees Raja’s nobility and falls for him, even pretending he is a wealthy suitor when her father suggests she elope. Torn between the sisters’ affections, Raja nearly leaves with Priya but stops himself out of guilt for betraying Manju. To his surprise, Priya reveals she already knew the truth and only pretended to test everyone. At the same time, Manju confesses everything to Simhachalam. Suddenly, Shankar reappears, kidnaps them, and threatens their lives. In the climax, Raja defeats Shankar, rescues the family, and earns Simhachalam’s respect. The film ends joyfully with Simhachalam apologizing, and the marriage of Satish and Priya taking place, bringing reconciliation and harmony to the family.
