Zoo Laka Taka Story
The film revolves around two deeply traditional families. Ranga Chary, an orthodox Brahmin, and Alexander, a devout Christian, are best friends who share the same compound while working under their cunning employer, Purushotham. Despite their warm bond, both cling fiercely to their customs and beliefs, often leading to humorous conflicts. Ranga Chary lives with his son Madhava Chary and daughter Radha, while Alexander resides with his son Prabhu and daughter Mary Karuna. Secretly, Radha and Prabhu fall in love, as do Madhava and Karuna, though they pretend to be rivals to hide their feelings. When their fathers discover the truth, a rift forms, and they hastily arrange alternative alliances for their children. To outwit the elders, Hitchcock, Alexander’s father, devises a clever scheme for Madhava and Karuna to elope, aided by his sidekick SI Pattabhiramaiah. However, the plan fails to change the stubborn attitudes of the elders. In despair, Madhava and Karuna stage a suicide pact to shock their fathers into abandoning caste pride—but heartbreakingly, they actually go through with it, believing their deaths will awaken conscience in their families. Instead, the elders harden further, building an even stronger caste barrier.
The next day, in a supernatural twist, Madhava and Karuna’s souls take over the bodies of Prabhu and Radha. After several comical episodes, the souls fulfill their love through Prabhu and Radha’s union, then reveal their departure, leaving the young couple to continue their bond. Forced by circumstance, Ranga Chary and Alexander reluctantly agree to marry off Prabhu and Radha. Just then, Ranga Chary uncovers that much of this confusion was Hitchcock’s ploy, and in anger, he withdraws to seek refuge under Purushotham. But Purushotham, driven by lust for Radha, imprisons Ranga Chary and attempts to molest her. Prabhu breaks through the barriers to rescue her, fighting valiantly. Witnessing his son’s courage, Hitchcock reforms, admits his guilt, and supports his old friend. In the climax, Prabhu defeats Purushotham, saving Radha and restoring honor. Finally, the elders realize that friendship and humanity are greater than caste and creed, and the story ends joyfully with the marriage of Prabhu and Radha.
