Preminchi Choodu Story

The film explores the human fallacy of blaming fate, said to be written by Brahma, to excuse one’s own mistakes. Chittibabu, deeply credulous, believes that he and his beloved Satyabhama have been cursed across births, destined to be separated by caste differences. Haunted by hallucinations of Brahma obstructing their union, he grows paranoid even as their parents, Chowdary and Sastry, remain best friends while clinging to rigid traditions. Sastry arranges Satyabhama’s marriage with his nephew Mohan, a veterinary doctor, who himself is in love with a Christian girl, Jyothi, daughter of David Gopal Rao and Mary. While Gopal Rao consents, Mary strongly objects. In the meantime, Chitti schemes to foil Mohan, forcing awkward situations until Mohan persuades Satya to act romantically with him to escape other proposals. Chitti even ropes in Jyothi, sparking suspicions that Satya later resolves. Eventually, Jyothi wins over Mohan’s stern father Ugranarasimham, while Sastry finalizes Satya’s engagement with Mohan. Cornered, Chitti and Satya elope, shocking their families. They appeal to registrars and caste associations but are rejected everywhere, until the progressive Abyudaya Samajam agrees to conduct their marriage.

In parallel, Mohan’s romance with Jyothi explodes when Mary intervenes, but with Gopal Rao’s persuasion, she relents, allowing their marriage. Meanwhile, Chowdary and Sastry track down the runaway lovers, who attempt suicide in despair but survive, leading to their prosecution. In court, Chitti claims Brahma himself is responsible for their plight. Suddenly, Brahma appears, declaring that caste was never his creation but a human-made barrier, and that destiny rests on free will, not divine decree. In a startling twist, the entire sequence is revealed to be Chitti’s dream—awakening him from superstition. Empowered, he boldly confronts the caste prejudice of his parents during the wedding. With Mohan and Jyothi’s support, he fights back against social orthodoxy until Chowdary and Sastry, remorseful, admit their guilt and realize that love is greater than caste or clan. The film concludes happily with the marriage of Chittibabu and Satyabhama, celebrating the triumph of love and reason over blind tradition.
