Ramu Story

The film begins with Advocate Ramesam and his wife Gayatri Devi, the chief editor of a newspaper, living joyfully with their four children—Girija, Satish, Ramesh, and Jalaja. One day, an orphan boy named Ramu risks his life to help them, and in gratitude, they adopt him as their eldest son. Years later, Ramu becomes the backbone of the family, adored by his foster parents, protective of his siblings, and in love with their maid, Ganga. Girija marries the cunning Gopalam, who begins sowing discord within the household. Meanwhile, Satish and Ramesh grow envious of Ramu’s influence. At the same time, Gayatri Devi’s newspaper persistently exposes the crimes of Bhupathi, a notorious smuggler, making him her bitter enemy. To strike back, Bhupathi plots to marry his brutish son Pradeep to Jalaja. When Bhupathi insults Gayatri, she retaliates publicly, prompting him to collude with Gopalam. Together, they incite labor unrest and enforce a press lockout, during which Gayatri collapses with a heart attack—saved only by Ramu’s intervention.

Seizing the chaos, Gopalam manipulates Satish and Ramesh into turning against Ramu, forcing him to leave home. Disturbed by his family’s disarray, Ramesam secretly decides to will his property to Ramu. Learning this, Bhupathi murders Ramesam, plunging the family into financial ruin. During this turmoil, Ramu protects his mother and vows to revive the press. Exposing Bhupathi’s smuggling racket, he secures the reward money and relaunches the paper, publishing a damning report against Bhupathi. In retaliation, Bhupathi kidnaps the entire family, but Satish and Ramesh finally realize their folly and reform. In the climax, Ramu defeats Bhupathi and rescues his family. The court sentences him only to a short-term punishment, after which he is acquitted. The film ends on a happy note with Ramu’s reunion with his family, reaffirming the triumph of loyalty and justice.
