Sahasame Jeevitham Story
The film begins with a dynamic youth, Ravi, returning to his hometown. During the train journey, he is ecstatic and narrates his past to fellow passengers. Ravi led a splendid lifestyle in college and was admired by everyone because of his fabulous singing. He is the son of a middle-class lecturer, Satyam, who takes a bus daily to hear his son sing. Chaaya, his fellow collegian and daughter of a tycoon, Gupta, learns of Ravi’s talent. Since Gupta shows hostility toward poverty, Chaaya disguises herself in a burka to meet Ravi. However, Ravi detects her and finds her whereabouts with his wit, and the two share their love through a secret code language. After a few comic scenes, Gupta becomes aware of their bond and threatens Satyam by imposing a status barrier between the young lovers. He then sends Chaaya to Madras. Meanwhile, Satyam warns Ravi to give up on his love, but Ravi remains determined. With help from his patrons, he too travels to Madras, and the two continue their romance. Infuriated, Gupta uses his influence to have Ravi arrested. Satyam secures his release, but a heated confrontation ends with Ravi quitting his house, leaving only his friends to support him.
Later, Gupta plans to send Chaaya abroad. Learning of this, Ravi leads a student agitation for love, which escalates into chaos. Ultimately, Gupta relents, acknowledging the sincerity of their bond, but stipulates that he will consent to their marriage only if Ravi achieves something significant. As the narrative returns to the present, Ravi is shown triumphing as a scholar and coming back home. At the station, Chaaya and his friends warmly welcome him. The movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Ravi and Chaaya.
