Story
The film begins in the royal fort of Hastinapuram, where the princes display their valor. Bhima and Duryodhana clash in a mighty gada yuddh (mace duel), which escalates into a contest of pride until Guru Dronacharya intervenes, declaring them equal in strength. Soon after, Arjuna astounds the court with his mastery of archery, earning Drona’s praise as his foremost disciple. At that moment, Karna enters and challenges Arjuna, but is humiliated for his caste. Though Kunti recognizes Karna as her firstborn, she conceals the truth in fear of society. Sensing an opportunity, Duryodhana, guided by Shakuni’s cunning, crowns Karna as the King of Anga, forging an unbreakable bond of loyalty between them.
Dronacharya then demands guru dakshina from Arjuna—capturing Drupada, King of Panchala, once his childhood friend who had insulted him. Arjuna fulfills the task, humiliating Drupada, who vows revenge. With Lord Krishna’s counsel, Drupada performs a putrakameshti yagna to beget children destined for vengeance: Dhrishtadyumna, born to slay Drona, and Draupadi, fated to wed Arjuna. Draupadi, from childhood, reveres Krishna, who regards her as his sister. Meanwhile, Yudhishthira is declared crown prince, stoking Duryodhana’s envy. Krishna consoles Kunti, promising to guide and protect her sons.
On Krishna’s birthday, the Pandavas visit Dvaraka, where divine architect Mayasura gifts them the spectacular palace Mayasabha. There, Draupadi’s bond with Arjuna blossoms. When Krishna cuts his finger, Draupadi tears her sari to bandage him, and he pledges to repay this debt—a promise that will echo in time. Later, during their conquests, Arjuna reaches Rameswaram and boasts he could have built Rama’s bridge of arrows. Offended, Hanuman challenges him. After repeated failures, Arjuna prepares a pyre in shame, until Krishna secretly lends his shoulder to support the bridge. Realizing Krishna is none other than Rama himself, Hanuman repents and vows to be Arjuna’s emblem, adorning his chariot as the flag.
Meanwhile, Shakuni and Duryodhana plot to eliminate the Pandavas by luring them into the wax palace at Varanasi. Krishna warns them, and Bhima secretly digs a tunnel, saving his family when the palace is set ablaze. During exile, Bhima slays the rakshasa Hidimbasura and weds his sister Hidimbi, fathering Ghatotkacha. Later, while disguised as Brahmins at Ekachakrapuram, Bhima also kills the monster Bakasura to protect villagers.
At last, Drupada arranges Draupadi’s swayamvara, an archery contest inviting kings across Bharat. Mighty rulers—Shalya, Jarasandha, Duryodhana, and even Karna—fail to succeed, with Krishna cleverly ensuring Karna’s defeat. Arjuna, disguised as a Brahmin, triumphs, revealing the Pandavas’ true identity. In a twist, Kunti inadvertently commands her sons to share Draupadi, thinking they brought alms. When confusion arises, Krishna intervenes, declaring Kunti’s word divine will, and sanctifies Draupadi’s union with all five Pandavas.
The film closes on a majestic note with the wedding of Draupadi and the Pandavas, symbolizing destiny and the beginning of a saga that will reshape history.
