Raksha Story
Rajeev is a successful civil engineer who owns Raksha Construction Company. He leads a content life with his wife Arthi, their two children Raksha and Rahul, and his mother. Rajeev is an atheist, though his wife and mother deeply believe in God and in practices of black magic. One day, while working at a construction site, his manager Shyam discovers an ancient Ganesh idol and insists Rajeev build a temple at that spot, warning that ignoring it might bring ill fate. Rajeev dismisses the advice. Life goes on well until strange things begin happening in the house — particularly Raksha, his daughter, starts behaving in unnerving ways. Arthi and Rajeev’s mother urge him to take it seriously, but he resists. Raksha’s health deteriorates, and Rajeev seeks help from Dr. Rangarajan, a psychiatrist, who is unable to explain what is happening.
As the situation worsens, Rajeev is forced to confront that there might be supernatural forces at play. He eventually learns from a black magician, Baba, with help from other family members, that the cause of Raksha’s affliction is dark magic performed by Venu and Madhu — former associates whom Rajeev had expelled from his company after discovering their deceit. Parallel to this, Dr. Seema diagnoses Raksha’s condition as a psychological obsession aggravated by Rajeev’s let-up on family beliefs. In the climax, Rajeev locates Venu, Madhu, and their accomplice and battles their malevolent influence. Through a combination of exposing the black magic and using hypnotism, Raksha is restored. The film ends on a note that juxtaposes science and belief, leaving the question open-ended on whether faith or rationality holds more power.
