Vipranarayana Story
Vipra Narayana, a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu, lives a simple life in his hermitage near the Kaveri river, offering daily flower garlands and hymns to Lord Ranganatha of Srirangam. When the proud dancer Devadevi, hurt by Narayana’s indifference, decides to humble him, she enters his hermitage disguised as an orphan. Despite warnings from his disciple Rangaraju, Narayana shelters her and eventually falls for her charm, straying from his path of devotion.
Realizing her mistake, Devadevi leaves, but Narayana follows her in desperation. To protect his devotee, Lord Ranganatha, disguised as Rangaraju, gifts Devadevi a golden vessel from the temple, leading to Narayana being accused of theft. Just as he is about to be punished, Lord Ranganatha appears and reveals the divine truth: Narayana is the incarnation of his celestial garland Vyjayanthi, and Devadevi is a cursed gandharva. The two attain salvation at the Srirangam temple, redeemed by the Lord’s grace.
