Bharya Bhartalu Story
The film begins with Public Prosecutor Dharma Rao, who holds high esteem in society. He lives with his wife, Manikyamma; two sons, Ramanandam and Anand; and a daughter, Sarala. Anand, who studies in Madras, lives as a frolicking playboy. During that time, Hemalatha, his amour who traps several men for her desires, blackmails Anand into marriage, but he cuts loose. She then informs Dharma Rao, who furiously sends his brother-in-law Venkataratnam to tackle it. Fortuitously, Venkataratnam detects Hema’s dark affair with a callow man, Anjaneyulu. He silences her and brings Anand back. Anand starts a new chapter, gets acquainted with a school teacher, Sarada, and genuinely falls in love with her. In parallel, Sarada is revealed as the daughter of court clerk Sivakamaiah, who stays with his second wife, Kanakam, and her father, Kutumbaiah, a lazy man who constantly troubles him. Fortuitously, Sarada joins as a tutor at Sarala’s house, where she is surprised to see Anand. Once Anand expresses his love, which she denies, he challenges her to marry him. The incident tarnishes Sarada’s reputation, compelling her to wed Anand. Soon after, Sarada admits he could nearly win her heart when anguished, to which Anand replies that until then, he will not touch her. Meanwhile, Hema marries Anjaneyulu and moves to Vizag, unwittingly becoming a tenant at Anand’s friend Gopinath’s house, where she also has a fling with him.
Soon after, Sarada tries to accept Anand, but their rift widens due to his past. Moreover, Hema creates turbulence between the couple, leading to Sarada’s illness. Hema reaches Anand’s house, showers fake love for money, and denigrates Sarada, prompting Anand to rebuke and expel her. At that moment, Sarada overhears it and realizes her husband’s nobility. Meanwhile, Sivakamaiah, irritated, ousts his father-in-law, who then lodges in a hotel. Anjaneyulu, discovering Hema’s promiscuous nature, grows vengeful and hides out in a hotel with Subbaiah. Later, Hema, sensing Anand and Gopi’s friendship, conspires with Gopi to entrap Anand there, sparking a quarrel. Exploiting the chaos, Anjaneyulu backstabs Hema, incriminating Anand. Dharma Rao prosecutes the case, while Ramanandam takes up Anand’s defense. Kutumbaiah reveals Anjaneyulu’s presence in the city. At last, Sarada, with her willpower, enacts a clever play and rescues her husband from death’s door. Finally, the movie ends happily with the couple’s reunion.
