Buddhimantudu Story
The film begins in a village where Madhavacharya, a temple priest, is an ardent devotee of Krishna and admired by everyone. Madhavaiah often experiences mystic visions whenever he sees the Lord’s statue. Meanwhile, his younger brother Gopi, though a frolicsome riffraff, is kindhearted and works for the villagers’ welfare. Seshadri, the village head, is corrupt and oppressive, with Gopi standing as a barrier, while Madhavaiah respects him, believing he is wise. Gopi falls in love with Radha, the daughter of Seshadri’s sister Kaveramma, and reforms under her influence. Meanwhile, Krishna, Seshadri’s son, follows in his father’s footsteps and traps Kasturi, the school teacher’s daughter. Gopi and Radha decide to marry, but fear their elders’ caste prejudices. Exploiting an opportunity, Seshadri defames Gopi, making Radha despise him. Provoked, Madhavaiah disowns Gopi and gives away their ruined building. Later, Seshadri spreads false propaganda against Radha, leading to Kaveramma’s death. He then plots to wed Radha to Krishna to seize her property.
Parallelly, Gopi renovates his building into a school for villagers, which infuriates Seshadri, who removes Madhavaiah as temple priest. Madhavaiah, deluded, feels accompanied by Lord Krishna. Furious, Gopi confronts Seshadri, who frames him by planting stolen temple ornaments. However, Seshadri’s henchman Ramalingam double-crosses him and steals the jewelry. When Gopi is accused, a hidden ancestral treasure is unearthed, sparking a dispute between the brothers—Madhavaiah wanting it for the temple and Gopi for the school. Seshadri schemes again, pushing for elections. Gopi exposes the temple robbery with Ramalingam’s help, and Radha realizes his virtue. During the turmoil, Krishna flees with the treasure and Radha, but Gopi rescues her and reforms him. Meanwhile, Gopi’s followers challenge Madhavaiah to prove God’s existence with a miracle by lifting the temple dome. Disturbed, Madhavaiah prays when Gopi secretly raises the dome to save his brother. Madhavaiah believes the Lord acted through Gopi and learns that serving people equals serving God. Finally, the treasure is used for villagers’ welfare, Seshadri is arrested, and the movie ends happily with the marriage of Gopi and Radha.
