Govvula Gopanna Story
The film begins with a callow Gopanna (Gopi), who rears cattle and adores them. Meanwhile, municipal chair Nagaraju, an honorable-seeking hoodlum, creates turbulence in the town. Once, his vainglorious daughter Tara quarrels with Gopi, and he mocks her. Learning of it, Nagaraju orders his men to attack Gopi, but Kasturi, Nagaraju’s good-natured son, rescues him. Advocate Narasimham, a man of integrity, often confronts Nagaraju. He lives happily with his ideal wife Mahalakshmi and their daughter Radha. Narasimham fixes Radha’s marriage with his childhood friend Sripathi’s son Shekar, who happens to be Gopi’s doppelganger. On Kasturi’s advice, Gopi goes to Narasimham’s house, where everyone mistakes him for Shekar and honors him. Gopi, in turn, falls for Radha. Later, Shekar arrives to apprentice under Narasimham, but Nagaraju’s goons mistake him for Gopi and beat him. Shekar escapes and reaches Narasimham’s home, shocked to see Gopi and realizing the situation. From then, both men play a confusing drama without revealing their identities. Tara initially rifts with Shekar, mistaking him for Gopi, but later falls in love. Meanwhile, Kasturi loves their maid Raji.
Once, Radha misinterprets a meeting between Shekar and Tara, but Gopi and Shekar reveal the truth. Even so, Narasimham expels Gopi and insists Radha marry Shekar, who refuses, confessing his love for Tara. At this point, Narasimham exposes Nagaraju as the murderer of his father, who had staged it as a suicide. He also reveals his father had collected incriminating evidence against Nagaraju in a diary. Shocked, Shekar collapses and attacks Nagaraju but is captured. Nagaraju then extorts Narasimham and plots to kill him, but Gopi bravely saves him. Everyone realizes Gopi’s nobility, and Radha bows before him. Amid the chaos, Shekar is imprisoned in Nagaraju’s den, where it is revealed that Raji is actually an undercover cop assigned to catch Nagaraju. In the end, Gopi uncovers the diary, frees Shekar, and defeats Nagaraju. Finally, the movie concludes happily with the marriages of the lovebirds.
