Laila Majnu Story
The origin love tale “[[Layla and Majnun|Laila Majnu]]” begins with Qais and Laila, who have been inseparable since infancy. Their respective parents, Ameer Umri and Ameer Sarvaar, also share cordial relations. However, a rift arises between the families when they become aware of their children’s fondness. Sarvaar rebukes Umri to restrain Qais, and by not dissuading his daughter from seeing him, Sarvaar forcibly carries Laila to [[Mecca]]. Qais follows her and roams the streets in a lunatic state, uttering his beloved’s name. The public mocks him, calling him Manju while casting stones. Laila and Manju are devastated even by a mere glance. Manju dares to intrude covertly but is caught and subjected to torment. Meanwhile, the [[Iraq]] Emperor visits the town, startled by the tale of this love. He covets Laila upon seeing her and commands his acolyte Anwar to make it feasible. Besides, Umri implores Sarvaar to protect his son, which Sarvaar accepts, stipulating that Manju must prove he is not insane. Though Manju triumphs, Sarvaar bows before the Emperor’s bridal connection.
Thus, the nuptial is conducted, Laila is taken to Iraq with the Emperor, and Manju becomes a desert wanderer. Laila’s arrival irks the Emperor’s mistress, Zarina, who initially reacts harshly but softens when mindful of her tragic story. She decides to aid Laila and pleads with the Emperor to release her, which he denies. The Emperor then attempts to subdue Laila with all means but fails. Ultimately, he repents and honorably sends Laila away, adopting her as a sibling. At last, catastrophe strikes through a fierce sandstorm, but the estranged lovers are finally united. The story concludes with Laila and Manju breathing their last together, symbolizing their love as immortal.
