Manchi Manasulu Story
The film begins in a village where a blacksmith, Rangaiah, lives with his daughter, Jaya. He strives hard to educate his younger brother Venu in Madras, heedless of his own health. Aware of this, Venu searches for affordable lodging to ease his brother’s burden. He meets Public Prosecutor Anand Rao, who offers their summer house free of charge. To secure this, Venu is introduced as a family man, since Anand Rao’s wife Suryakantam dislikes bachelors. However, Anand Rao’s daughter soon discerns the truth and grows fond of Venu. Meanwhile, in the village, Shankaraiah lives with his wayward son Kumar and blind daughter Radha. Kumar traps Jaya while also maintaining an affair with Mallika, whom he cheats. After graduating, Venu returns to his brother, accompanied by Anand Rao’s family, to fix his alliance with Shanti. By then, Rangaiah is terminally ill and dies, entrusting Jaya to Venu. Later, Venu discovers Jaya and Kumar’s affair and seeks their marriage. Shankaraiah agrees only if Venu marries Radha instead, putting him in a dilemma. Venu confides in Shanti, who convinces him, and both marriages are performed. Though married, Venu struggles to forget Shanti, but she intervenes and helps the couple adjust. Venu later appreciates Radha’s nobility, and she conceives.
The couple travels to Mahabalipuram for leisure. Meanwhile, Mallika learns of Kumar’s deceit, and he lures her there, stabs her, and throws her off a cliff. Hearing her cry, Venu rushes but only spots Kumar fleeing. To protect Jaya’s future, Venu accuses himself. During his escape, Kumar accidentally steps on Radha’s foot, which she recognizes. Shanti, now a lawyer, defends Venu in court, arguing against her own father, Anand Rao. That night, Kumar drunkenly confesses to Jaya, who, with Shanti’s help, prepares to reveal the truth. Later, Radha also recognizes Kumar as her attacker, but the judiciary deems it insufficient. Enraged, Kumar abducts Jaya, beating her and hiding her in a decrepit temple, where she discovers the murder weapon and bloodstained cloth he concealed. She rushes to court with the evidence, forcing Kumar to confess. He is sentenced to seven years in prison. At last, Shanti secures Venu’s acquittal as Radha delivers a baby boy. Finally, the movie ends happily with the couple’s reunion and Shanti moving forward with her own life.
