Prana Mithrulu Story
The film begins with two soulmates—Zamindar Chinna Babu Gopala Krishna, a shipping company proprietor who lives a frolicsome life, and Chinnaiah (Chinna), an orphan raised alongside him. Their bond, stronger than casual friendship, is akin to brotherhood, and Babu’s mother Jagadamba treats them equally. Once, Chinna and Babu tease Parvati, a schoolteacher, who slaps Chinna; afterward, he falls in love with her. Meanwhile, the malicious Diwanji, who manages business affairs, plots to usurp the property. At every step, Chinna thwarts him, protecting Babu. Frustrated, Diwanji humiliates Chinna as a servant, but Babu entrusts full authority to Chinna. Diwanji feigns resignation, and Jagadamba, worried about the future, decides to separate the two. She offers Chinna money to leave, but he refuses. At her pleading, he promises to part ways. When Babu begs him to stay, Chinna remains firm, and Babu forces him to swear never to move, turning him into a statue of loyalty. Jagadamba’s plan backfires. Later, Babu jokingly pressures Chinna to bring Parvati to him for pleasure, which breaks her heart. She confronts Babu, who, realizing the situation, sends her back safely. Devastated, Parvati refuses to see Chinna again. To mend his image, Babu marries Padmavati, who, through Chinna, understands his complex nature and develops a strong marital bond with him, while Parvati continues to wither away.
Labor unrest arises at the factory, and Babu sends Chinna as a Trojan horse to infiltrate the workforce. Chinna poses as a labor leader loyal to his master, but the workers’ suffering changes him, and he becomes their true advocate. Parvati, still distrustful, accuses him of betrayal. Babu, unable to reconcile, grows egotistical and violent, even assaulting a laborer named Simhalu before Chinna intervenes. When Chinna asks him to apologize, Babu refuses and, in fury, half-sanctions Chinna’s murder. Diwanji seizes the opportunity to act on his words. Despite Padmavati’s warning of danger, Chinna leads a peaceful march to Babu’s house, earning back Parvati’s respect. Though she pleads with him to value his life, Chinna presses on. At the house, he calms the mob, and Babu, unable to shoot him, is helpless as Diwan’s henchman Appalu mistakenly shoots Chinna, who dies a martyr. Overcome with grief, Parvati collapses before the deity and dies as well. The culprits are arrested, and a statue of Chinna is erected before Zamindar Babu’s building, where laborers gather to pay tearful tribute to their fallen leader.
