Rahasyam Story
The film begins with Saint Rakthabhisha and Sriganda, king of Kanchipuram, both disciples of Narada. A rivalry arises between them, each considering himself superior. Rakthabhisha, a great devotee of Goddess Lalitha, builds an underground temple and performs penance, seeking salvation. The goddess proclaims that he can attain it only after marriage and being blessed with a son. She bestows him a ring as the key to the temple, which cannot be accessed without it. Later, Rakthabhisha arrives in Chandrapuri with his acolyte Krishna, a fool. There, Mandaka, son of Nityananda (Rakthabhisha’s colleague), seeks his blessings. Simultaneously, King Karunakara of Chandrapuri arrives with his blind daughter Rajyalakshmi and lame niece Kumari. Sriganda also comes and challenges Rakthabhisha to create heaven. Rakthabhisha does so, transforming Mandaka into Indra, Rajyalakshmi and Kumari into Apsaras. Though Sriganda vanishes, he cannot erase their beauty. Enamored, he attempts to abduct Rajyalakshmi, but Prince Ravi Chandra and Mandaka save her. Karunakara welcomes them and adopts Mandaka, who becomes close friends with Ravi Chandra. Love blossoms between Mandaka and Kumari, as well as Ravi Chandra and Rajyalakshmi.
Sriganda soon proposes marriage to Rajyalakshmi, but Mandaka cleverly arranges her wedding to Ravi Chandra instead. Later, Karunakara’s sister Chandramma travels to Kanchipuram with her daughter Kumari, hoping to wed her to Sriganda. Mandaka, in disguise, continues his love for Kumari. Meanwhile, Rajyalakshmi conceives, and Ravi Chandra returns to his hometown. Taking advantage, Sriganda conquers Chandrapuri and imprisons Karunakara, though Rajyalakshmi escapes. Mandaka tries to rescue Karunakara but is pursued by soldiers. At the same time, Rakthabhisha loses the ring, which Mandaka retrieves to enter the secret temple. There he restores Krishna’s sanity, who reveals to Mandaka that Ravi Chandra is the transformation of Rakthabhisha, destined to attain salvation. Mandaka refuses to accept this injustice. Soon, Rajyalakshmi gives birth to a son, and Mandaka leaves her and the child under Krishna’s care while confronting Rakthabhisha. By offering the ring to the goddess, Mandaka repeatedly transforms Rakthabhisha into Ravi Chandra. Finally, Sriganda plots to crown his lieutenant Virupaksha as king of Chandrapuri and wed Kumari. Rajyalakshmi is captured again, but Krishna alerts Mandaka and Ravi Chandra. In the ensuing battle, Sriganda is defeated and loses his powers. In the end, Karunakara is restored as king, Rajyalakshmi is reunited with Ravi Chandra, and Mandaka weds Kumari.
