Once upon a time, there was a kingdom. King Mahavira announced a Swayamvaram, i.e., one’s choice of selecting a bride, to his son Prince Raja Shekara without his approval. At this, princesses of various kingdoms arrive, to whom Raja Shekara keeps three conditions: the bride should build a diamond palace for him without anyone’s help; she should become pregnant without his knowledge; and she should allow him to espouse the girl he loves. Princess Manohari agrees to it and weds him. Soon after, Raja Shekara reaches Pakshirajyam with his friend Ammanna, where he crushes on Princess Komali. Besides, to keep her word, Manohari conducts the dance programs. Afterward, she finds Raja Shekara’s whereabouts and reaches Pakshirajyam with her friend Rani, where its commander, Dandayya, entices Rani, mistaking her for a queen. Here, he requests Manohari to make his acquaintance with her, to which she agrees, provided he should build a diamond palace for her. At the same time, Pakshiraja is affected by an ulcer, so he offers his daughter’s hand and half his kingdom to whoever cures it. That night, Manohari and Rani, disguised as men, spot Raja Shekara and Komali, learn about the king’s illness, and listen to the remedy via bird speakers. After crossing many hurdles, they achieve the medicine and cure the king, who bestows half the kingdom along with Komali as per his word.

Eventually, distressed Raja Shekara faints when Rani takes him to their place. In the darkness, he mistakes Manohari for Komali and consummates with her. Manohari returns to her in-laws’ house, and Dandayya spots Raja Shekara and Komali and captivates them. He impels Komali to marry him by imprisoning Raja Shekara. Simultaneously, Ammanna acquits Raja Shekara, and they return. Rani follows Dandayya, and with the help of Pakshiraja, she protects Komali. When Raja Shekara returns to their kingdom, Manohari gives birth to a baby boy. Being cognizant of it, Raja Shekara dictates to burn her. The rest of the story is about how Manohari proves her chastity.
