Sutradharulu Story
The film is set in a village dominated by the tyrant Neelakantam, who oppresses the villagers. Hanumanth Dasu and his brother-in-law Rangadasu belong to a pious Haridasa family. When Neelakantam molests the orthodox Yashodamma, wife of Bhagavathar Acharyulu, she sacrifices herself and entrusts her son, Tirumala Dasu, to Hanumanth Dasu. After 20 years, Tirumala Dasu returns as a collector and secretly allies with Neelakantam, planning a public revolution under his father’s guidance, ultimately succeeding in reforming the village administration. Meanwhile, Seeta, daughter of Rangadasu, initially dislikes Tirumala Dasu but later recognizes his virtue and grows fond of him.
Neelakantam then schemes to usurp government lands, prompting Tirumala Dasu to cleverly acquire them through bribes and auctions to protect the villagers. Enraged, Neelakantam, aided by other landlords, attempts to destroy the village, but Tirumala Dasu intervenes. When the villagers try to attack Neelakantam, Hanumanth Dasu teaches them that violence is not the solution. Realizing his mistakes, Neelakantam reforms, and Yashodamma reunites with her husband. The story concludes with Hanumanth Dasu affirming that the wisest punishment for wrongdoers is to reform them, highlighting that “Nonviolence is great piety.”
