Vasantha Sena Story
The film begins around 2000 years ago at Ujjain. Chaaru Datta, a renowned artist known for his rectitude and charities, lives in poverty with his wife Aditi and son Rohasena. Vasantha Sena, an accomplished dancer and musician born into a courtesan family, protects her purity. The two meet, fall in love, and become co-authors of romantic poems. Meanwhile, Ujjain is ruled by King Palaka, who appoints his lecherous brother-in-law Samsthanaka as his representative. Samsthanaka casts a lustful eye on Vasantha Sena, but she rebuffs him. Anarchy spreads in the kingdom due to Palaka’s misrule, and warrior Aryaka plans a revolution. One day, Vasantha Sena entrusts her jewelry to Chaaru Datta for safekeeping, but a thief, Sarvilaka, steals it to free his lover Madanika, Vasantha Sena’s maid, from prison. Recognizing the sacrifice, Vasantha Sena forgives her and releases her. To honor her trust, Chaaru Datta gifts Vasantha Sena a rare pearl necklace belonging to Aditi, more valuable than the stolen jewelry. Feeling betrayed, Aditi leaves home, and Chaaru Datta’s friend Maitreya warns him that his deeds may lead to catastrophe, but he ignores the advice. Chaaru Datta then accepts Vasantha Sena as his mistress and promises to send her a chariot.
At this point, Samsthanaka schemes and sends his own chariot to mislead Vasantha Sena. He tries to molest her, and in the struggle, he believes he has killed her. Seizing the moment, he frames Chaaru Datta, who is sentenced to death. Just before the execution, Vasantha Sena revives and proves Chaaru Datta’s innocence, reconciling with Aditi, who accepts her virtue. Meanwhile, Aryaka dethrones Palaka and establishes a new rule, with Samsthanaka arrested for his crimes. Aryaka honors Chaaru Datta with an eminent position in his court. Demonstrating his innate generosity, Chaaru Datta pleads for Aryaka to pardon Samsthanaka. Finally, the film ends on a happy note.
